'For Sale Preparation'
We specialise in a fully comprehensive yacht and boat valeting service tailored specifically to those yachts about to enter onto the brokerage market. We appreciate that the current economic climate is having a negative effect on yacht sales, however we are conscious that a well presented yacht is a saleable yacht. We believe that if your yacht is presented at it's best, when an offer is made, the ability for the potential buyer to haggle because of insignificant cleaning issues are greatly reduced, if not completely removed. Our For sale preparation service will give your yacht or boat a complete valet tailored to your individual needs. Please contact us to arrange a meeting on board so that we can talk through individual options available to you. An example of our sucess can be found on our Testimonials page, ".........Simon Quinn's team undoubtedly made an enormous contribution to the quick sale of the boat........"
Teak renovation
Over time, teak naturally turns from its new straw-like colour to a silver/grey. We use a two part cleaner/restorer from Wessex Chemicals. Part one, the cleaner removes all the dirt and grime and green, whilst part two, the renovator restores the colour to eventually dry to its original straw colour. Wessex also state that their Teak Cleaner and Teak Renovator are not harmful to aquatic life or the marine environment. Their test results show that the two products quickly turn into harmless salts after use.
Acid clean of Waterline
A common problem for yachts left in the water for a considerable length of time is yellowing of the gelcoat at the waterline. We use a specialist acid that will more often than not completely remove the yellowing, or on the more stubborn yachts, greatly reduce the yellowing and enhance the appearance of the waterline. The photos we have used here demonstrate a typical 'before and after' with a brilliant result, taking years off the look of the boat.
Exterior valeting
We will undertake to give your yacht or boat a full external valet down to (and where possible including the waterline, depending on whether you are ashore or on the water), including a full jetwash of non-slip areas of the decks and thorough cleaning of the cockpit, lockers and toerail. This is followed by a full chamois of all stainless, windows and hatches. Of course, we do appreciate that each make of yacht, whether sailing or power is very different, and will always make sure that our valeters adjust their technique to ensure that all areas of your yacht are covered.
Polishing and Waxing
As part of our complete valeting service, or as an individual product, our yacht and boat polishing service will ensure your yacht is protected against the many elements experienced by yacht owners, including UV degradation, salt water, bird excrement and general wear and tear experienced by everyday use.As part of our bespoke service and based on our experience, we will either offer a cut, polish and wax (with more serious UV degradation or on older vessels, the results are often dramatically increased with a cut back of the gelcoat before the polish and wax) or for those vessels in better condition a simple polish and wax will make a huge and immediate difference to the hull and topsides and help protect the gelcoat from the effects of UV damage.
Interior valeting
We find that many of our customers will require a package that looks after both inside and out. Our interior boat and yacht valeting approach is to ensure that your yacht is always left in a presentable condition, meaning that you can step aboard knowing that all you have to do is slip the mooring lines and go, assured that there is no cleaning or tidying to do before you go. Our Interior valeting includes vacuuming throughout, a dust of all surfaces, polishing of all woodwork, thorough clean of heads and thorough clean of the galley area, including a polish of the sink and taps. Every customer is different but as with our External valeting, Solent Yacht Care Limited will tailor their service to suit each yacht. We find some customers require a basic interior clean, whilst others require us to clean inside the fridge, bilges or empty the galley lockers and clean/tidy these intermittently.
Upholstery and Carpet Cleaning
Another invaluable service offered by Solent Yacht Care Limited is deep cleaning of upholstery and carpets with a specialist wet and dry valeting machine. Although regular vacuuming will help keep the yacht clean, using this wet and dry system ensures that the upholstery and carpets will look their best. Most of our customers, especially those on our regular cleaning programmes have this done on an annual basis.
Regular Exterior Valeting Programme
We find a majority of our new customers will approach us for an initial 'deep clean' of their yacht, either following a recent purchase, at the start of a new season or at the end of a busy season. We recommend to all of our customers that following this in-depth clean, they opt for either our fortnightly or monthly wash-offs to ensure that the effect of the elements are reduced. This exterior cleaning includes a full wash off down to the waterline, including jetwash of non-slip areas of deck where required, thorough cleaning of the cockpit, lockers and toerail followed by a chamois of all stainless, windows and hatches.
